To have an affordable box that people can buy that they would have confidence would run the game at an advertised framerate and performance would be a huge win.PSVRs Overwatch Contender, Megalith, Gets A Free Beta Today Inputs aside I have to say as someone who's ran FPS, RTS, and FGC tournaments a console version of Quake Champions would be very attractive to me. That's all that's needed and FPS gaming on consoles would be ALOT better if someone would have done this on the Wii. There needs to be a dedicated button to turn the gyro off or on when you hold it (user preference) This functions the same way as picking your mouse off the desk to reset it's position. I'm sort of frustrated that still to this day Nintendo hasn't gotten gyro mouse controls right. It's like the difference between holding a camera with your hands and using a tripod or dolly. The only advantage a typical mouse has is the stability that comes with using it on a desk. You can see /u/nicoreda demonstrating this here: Gyro mice are every bit as sensitive and accurate as your typical mouse. Īlthough this wouldn't apply to Xbox, I'm someone who likes to dabble in playing with a wiimote. I think his major "trick" is that he tunes his analog stick to be way more sensitive than what console games typically allow along with zero dead zone. So first off Gen1us is a well known Quake Champions pad player. Maybe, maybe they might do it for the sake of having a comprehensive library of their new IPs or for quick MTX grab, but it would also likely fall victim to the same trap that most console ports do: lacking/lagging on updates, no PTS, no private servers/mods, all stacked on the existing hardware limitations. I'm just being realistic, and the reality is that QC on console is unrealistic for Beth/id/MS, the community, and the hardware. I'm not being pessimistic or elitist here, I've been an Xbox user for almost 16 years, PC for 7, and am an avid Steam controller user. Due to these limitations, it wouldn't make any financial sense to release on console, meaning in the eyes of the devs/company, it's a money pit with no reward for the risk. But, even more unfortunately, there is only 1 Steam Controller and it doesn't work on consoles (never will), plus the format will never be adopted by the general public. The only controller that even comes close to being viable is the Steam controller due to its customization, gyro, back buttons, and most importantly, dual trackpad for accurate and fast mouse emulation. Quake is too technical and too reliant on mouse and movement mechanics to ever be viable on a dual-analogue controller - maybe gyro with flickstick could work, but Xbox controllers don'r have gyro. And given the way Unreal worked on console, I think it would be a bad move for everyone involved. Given the way they're treating QC on PC, I highly doubt it.
